Disposing of an old or damaged car The legal term for cars in this bracket is End of Life Vehicles or ELV’s. ELV’s are a hazardous waste and can only be taken by a person who holds a Waste Permit. (Section 32 of the Waste Management act 1996.)
Advice for disposing of an ELV
A. Make sure the person taking the car holds a Waste Permit.

B. Insist that the change of ownership forms are filled out and you give them the Vehicle Licensing Certificate or the Log book.

ALWAYS get a certificate of destruction signed on behalf of the new owner.
